As I revisit my blog for a new post, I can't help feeling a bit rusty. Instagram has been my primary social medium for past few years, while recently also a bit of YouTube shorts to show case a bit of artistic side of me and family.
However my blog has always been my goto medium to express my love for Chennai. Having now spent half my life outside my birth city, during which we both have witnessed each others growth, make an effort to tussle out of comfort zones and evolve constantly, likewise my posts on Chennai has seen me penning thoughts as a Masters student who used to visit home just craving moms food, as a working bachelor immersing in an ocean of nostalgia, and now as a married man with wife and kids exploring the fun side of Chennai.
The last fortnight in Chennai have been a wholesome time, and it really felt great to reconnect with friends and feel blessed to have a family where there exists mutual adoration and supportive ecosystem.
One core belief, that possibly over many years I made a conscious effort to change, is to avoid not planning how I spend my holiday and to figure out things to do that will stay with me in thoughts. I am mighty happy that I managed to live the plan.
I have a Triplicane bias (my birth place) so squeezed in a mini heritage walk along the bustling streets, visiting Mahakavi Bharathiyar Memorium and Parthasarathy temple (may sound boring but good vibes). Enjoyed Chennai night life (finally wifey got convinced there is one!). Visited my alma mater, CEG Anna University with wife and enjoyed the green campus walk and really tasty canteen food - its heart warming they serve such evergreen food at nominal price for many years. Boldly went around the cricket ground behind my parents residence to request play time, despite ankle scars, only for the young men to diplomatically rebuff me. Discovering a gem of an Iyengar bakery that served a warm and delicious cream bun - also packed home warm veg puffs and fruit cake, which to date taste the same as it did decades back. What a great franchise !!
As I bid adieu to another summer holiday and carry loads of memories back, for sure this Chennai trip was a home run.
